As Landstar’s “ambassadors of safety,” Landstar Safety Officers (LSOs) are the representatives from each independent agency at the forefront of Landstar’s customer safety initiatives. The LSO, who embraces all aspects of Landstar’s safety-first culture, is the customer’s point of contact at the independent Landstar agency for safety-related questions.

Supporting customers with Landstar’s safety efforts is what LSOs do best. Congratulations to the following Landstar Safety Officers recently recognized as LSOs of the Month.

November 2019 LSO of the Month

Landstar Safety Officer Lisa Nestor was named the November 2019 LSO of the Month. Nestor and her staff at Success Transportation have booked over 1.6 million BCO miles with no preventable accidents. They support Landstar’s safety culture by dialing into the Safety Thursday Conference Call and utilizing Landstar’s Mutual Understanding Safety Together or M.U.S.T. program. Nestor says, “real time visibility is mandatory” for all of her customers - to ensure freight visibility, the agency requires any driver hauling its customer’s freight to have GPS tracking capabilities. December 2019 LSO of the Month

Congratulations to LSO John Murphy and his team at Online Transport International. Murphy was selected as the December 2019 Landstar Safety Officer of the Month for his agency’s strong support of the Landstar safety culture. The agency participates in Landstar’s Mutual Understanding of Safety Together or M.U.S.T. program, regularly dials into the Safety Thursday Conference Call, attends LSO meetings, and co-sponsors BCO safety meetings each year in the Tampa, Florida, area. Murphy and his team’s commitment to safety is evident - ending 2019 with no BCO cargo claims and no preventable accidents.

January 2020 LSO of the Month

Eric Walden, the Landstar Safety Officer at Tripp Logistics was named the January 2020 LSO of the Month. Walden and his team support Landstar’s safety culture by always putting safety first with customers and promoting Landstar’s Complete and Accurate dispatch system with BCOs and approved carriers. Each year, Walden attends the LSO meeting and agent meeting held in Dallas, Texas. Additionally, in 2019, the LSO and his team dialed in for every Safety Thursday Conference Call.
